27 Weeks Ultrasound Photo!

Here's our little guy at 27 weeks. Looking cute and healthy! He now weighs 2 pounds and 9 oz. He's growing strong! We love him so much and are looking forward to seeing him in 3-D during our next ultrasound!! We are really hoping to get some good pics. He's been in the head-down position for the last month or more. Everything is going really well! Hello 3rd Trimester!!!

Here's a look at his development for week 27!

The baby is about 14.5 inches long and weighs over two pounds by now. The baby’s skin is wrinkled by floating in water and will remain this way until a few weeks after the baby is born as the skin slowly stretches out. The retina develops normal layers which later help in the reception of light images. These layers receive light and images and transmit the information to the brain for interpretation. The membrane that used to cover your baby’s eyes will separate at this stage to form eyelids. A new visual discovery begins for the baby and the baby’s eyes are mostly blue at this stage which will change into their true color some time after birth. The baby also develops a waking and sleeping pattern which might not be the same as your cycle. Some experts believe that the baby begins to dream by the 28th week. No one knows what they dream about but the brain remains active and the characteristic grooves on the brain surface start appearing with the development of more brain tissues. You might experience the baby hiccupping quite frequently now as the baby’s lungs are maturing and the baby is learning to breathe normally.

25 Weeks!

On 9/11 we mark our 25th week of pregnancy. Here's a look at baby's development!

Get ready for pat-a-cake! Baby's hands are now fully developed and he spends most of his awake time groping around in the darkness. Brain and nerve endings are developed enough now so that your baby can feel the sensation of touch. Other highlights include:Your baby's arms and legs have grown to almost the proportions they will be at birth, which is still sort of short. Baby's nostrils, which have been plugged up until now, clear out and he can practice breathing through the nose. The structures of your baby's spine are now made up of 150 joints, 33 rings and some 1,000 ligaments. The capillaries, the teeniest blood vessels, are now forming in your baby's body, giving his formerly translucent skin a pink glow. The blood vessels in the lungs also develop this week. Your baby weighs about a pound and a half and is about 13½ inches long—roughly the length of one of those recorders you played in elementary school music class.
Very cool! :)

Whoa Nelly!

Yum-O!

As many of you know, one of my favorite hobbies is cooking/baking. I had a hinkering for Peanut Butter Fudge on Sunday so I thought I would make a batch. Most of it is going to Victor's work so it can be out of my sight...haha!

Above is an actual picture of the fudge. Since my friend Bonnie keeps talking about doing a food blog I thought I'd take a picture of my fudge and post it. Would you guys be interested in seeing some of the different foods and goodies that I make? Let me know! Autumn is coming up and that means all kinds of yummy fall dishes! I can't wait! :)

The Dog Days of Summer!

The Dog Days of Summer are upon us! And nobody shows this better than Ms. Suki! She loves to lay in the floor, with her head on her special pillow, and nap while I'm working. Sometimes her yawns are contagious so I have to watch out! She keeps me great company during the day while I'm working!

Our baby!!

We had an ultrasound today with our high risk doctor. It went VERY well! They really did an in-depth ultrasound and looked at the baby from head to toe. They said his heart looked "gorgeous". They were so impressed at how well it functioned! They also looked at his spine and it was also a very beautiful spine. They checked him for the usual - hands, feet, mouth, lungs, kidneys, stomach...etc. Everything looked perfect!!

He was happily suckling on his fist and as you can see from the picture above, he was making movements with his mouth. It was so cute. I think he really resembled Vic (minus the fist suckling...hahaha!)!!

He is now 1 pound and 7 oz. They said he was the perfect size for 24 weeks.

We love him so much and are so proud of him!
