Big Boy!

Cross definitely isn't letting being born 3 weeks early hold him back - he's now up to 7 1/2 pounds! Not sure how long he is now but we've gone from being in Preemie clothes to the Newborn size and he's almost too long for those now. They are still loose but the length is getting too short. Could it be possible that a shortie like me could have a tall son? Only time will tell!

And We're Back!

We've kind of been neglecting the blog here lately...but I'm sure you understand :) As a spin-off from the post below - we still have some exponential growth going on. Cross is growing bigger every day and I'm growing smaller every day (thank goodness!). I had some major water retention at the end of pregnancy.

Happy 2 Weeks, Cross!!

We had quite an eventful day so here's the short version: Cross had his two-week follow up appointment with the pediatrician today. He is 1 inch longer than he was at birth! And is up to 6 lbs 9 oz (he went down to 5 lbs and 12 oz after he was born). He's taking on quite a growth spurt! The doc said he is doing fabulous.

Here's one thing you won't believe...... he can ROLL OVER! Yes, I'm not making this up. He can roll from flat on his back to his side, back to his back, and over to the other side. I kid you not. The pediatrician said that is something babies do at 4 months! He's such a show off. LOL :)

Oh yes, and the umbilical cord came off today. Now it's in a little ziplock until we decide what exactly to do with it...hehe.

Exponential Growth!

It appears I've been growing exponentially! Well, growing and swelling. I've suddenly developed hippo feet within the last couple of weeks.
Happy Full-term! Tomorrow is 37 weeks!!

Suki's First Snow of the Season

Suki definitely enjoyed the first snow of the season. We think it looks cute when it gets on her nose..hehe :)

Here we are the end of 30 wks. Definitely getting out there!

Coming to you in 3-D!

Here he is! Making his world premiere in 3-D...LOL! We had a 3-D ultrasound on Oct 16th and here is a picture of our little guy. He was weighing 3 lbs and 10 oz. And I bet you never thought you'd see my placenta did you? haha. We have another ultrasound (to measure growth) on Friday...so I'm excited to see how much he's grown in 2 wks!

27 Weeks Ultrasound Photo!

Here's our little guy at 27 weeks. Looking cute and healthy! He now weighs 2 pounds and 9 oz. He's growing strong! We love him so much and are looking forward to seeing him in 3-D during our next ultrasound!! We are really hoping to get some good pics. He's been in the head-down position for the last month or more. Everything is going really well! Hello 3rd Trimester!!!

Here's a look at his development for week 27!

The baby is about 14.5 inches long and weighs over two pounds by now. The baby’s skin is wrinkled by floating in water and will remain this way until a few weeks after the baby is born as the skin slowly stretches out. The retina develops normal layers which later help in the reception of light images. These layers receive light and images and transmit the information to the brain for interpretation. The membrane that used to cover your baby’s eyes will separate at this stage to form eyelids. A new visual discovery begins for the baby and the baby’s eyes are mostly blue at this stage which will change into their true color some time after birth. The baby also develops a waking and sleeping pattern which might not be the same as your cycle. Some experts believe that the baby begins to dream by the 28th week. No one knows what they dream about but the brain remains active and the characteristic grooves on the brain surface start appearing with the development of more brain tissues. You might experience the baby hiccupping quite frequently now as the baby’s lungs are maturing and the baby is learning to breathe normally.

25 Weeks!

On 9/11 we mark our 25th week of pregnancy. Here's a look at baby's development!

Get ready for pat-a-cake! Baby's hands are now fully developed and he spends most of his awake time groping around in the darkness. Brain and nerve endings are developed enough now so that your baby can feel the sensation of touch. Other highlights include:Your baby's arms and legs have grown to almost the proportions they will be at birth, which is still sort of short. Baby's nostrils, which have been plugged up until now, clear out and he can practice breathing through the nose. The structures of your baby's spine are now made up of 150 joints, 33 rings and some 1,000 ligaments. The capillaries, the teeniest blood vessels, are now forming in your baby's body, giving his formerly translucent skin a pink glow. The blood vessels in the lungs also develop this week. Your baby weighs about a pound and a half and is about 13½ inches long—roughly the length of one of those recorders you played in elementary school music class.
Very cool! :)

Whoa Nelly!

Whoa Nelly! Look at that Belly! Here we are at 24 wks and 6 days.

Yum-O!

As many of you know, one of my favorite hobbies is cooking/baking. I had a hinkering for Peanut Butter Fudge on Sunday so I thought I would make a batch. Most of it is going to Victor's work so it can be out of my sight...haha!

Above is an actual picture of the fudge. Since my friend Bonnie keeps talking about doing a food blog I thought I'd take a picture of my fudge and post it. Would you guys be interested in seeing some of the different foods and goodies that I make? Let me know! Autumn is coming up and that means all kinds of yummy fall dishes! I can't wait! :)

The Dog Days of Summer!

The Dog Days of Summer are upon us! And nobody shows this better than Ms. Suki! She loves to lay in the floor, with her head on her special pillow, and nap while I'm working. Sometimes her yawns are contagious so I have to watch out! She keeps me great company during the day while I'm working!

Our baby!!

We had an ultrasound today with our high risk doctor. It went VERY well! They really did an in-depth ultrasound and looked at the baby from head to toe. They said his heart looked "gorgeous". They were so impressed at how well it functioned! They also looked at his spine and it was also a very beautiful spine. They checked him for the usual - hands, feet, mouth, lungs, kidneys, stomach...etc. Everything looked perfect!!

He was happily suckling on his fist and as you can see from the picture above, he was making movements with his mouth. It was so cute. I think he really resembled Vic (minus the fist suckling...hahaha!)!!

He is now 1 pound and 7 oz. They said he was the perfect size for 24 weeks.

We love him so much and are so proud of him!

Cute things!

And who says they don't make cute clothes for boys??
I think our winter baby will need a cute hat to keep him warm, don't you think? haha
Funny thing about the Sumo onesie is that Vic has the kanji symbol tattoo that's on wrestler's loin cloth...hehe.

Moving Along!!

We are now entering the last leg of the 2nd trimester! Tomorrow (8/20) we will be hitting 22 weeks and entering into the 6th month of pregnancy. In a way it seems like time has flown by!

Here's what we can look forward to in the upcoming week.

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

21 Weeks Belly Pic

21 weeks! He's moving around a lot now! Vic is surprised at how strong his kicks are.

First Big Purchase!

We now have a stroller and a car seat for Baby Boy :) It's the Chicco Cortina travel system. The infant car seat is rated #1. The stroller is not too big and is easy to use. We love it! It's green, white, and grayish.

Oh...he also has a few clothes too - I couldn't resist :)

One of Baby's first gifts....

Victor's very nice co-workers had this waiting on him after we found out we're having a Boy :) This is one of baby's first gifts!!

Suki thought Vic was bringing her a new toy home....and the trouble begins....LOL!

It's a Boy!!

How very exciting!!! We are both thrilled!!! We ended up finding out that we're having a boy a little bit early (long story). He's doing very well and is already practicing his kung fu! LOL
We should have some more detailed pics after our follow up appt on Friday. They will really be checking him out on the ultrasound for our big 20 week ultrasound.

18th and 19th week Belly pics

I even noticed that I grew A LOT this week!!!

Boy or Girl?

We find out if we are having a boy or a girl on 08.08.08! How fitting since we got married on 07.07.07! haha! I swear we didn't plan that.
Maybe we'll just keep it a surprise after we find out...hehe.
What do you think - Are we having a boy or a girl? Vote!

Staying Busy!

We've been busy doing some updates to our house before we move in. Mom has been coming down throughout the day and painting for us (thanks Mom!). My aunt Linda has also helped. They have done the hallway, office/guest room, the baby's room, all the trim, closets, and doors. Whew! Now just have to complete the living room before our floors go down. The floors will probably go down this weekend - we got Santos Mahogany! Can't wait to see them down. Can't wait to show you some before and after pics!

Today is 18 weeks!

Our baby can hear!!

The baby has also been moving around a lot! I can feel it. Especially certain times of the day or the way I sit. Keep on kicking little one! :)

In the 18th week the baby’s crown to rump length will be around 51/2 inches long and the weight will be about 5.25 ounces. The baby continues growing and developing fat layers however in this week the growth of the baby will slow down for a while. Your baby might somersault or sit cross legged at this stage. The baby will become more sensitive to sound as the bones which pass the sound to the inner ear harden. The part of the brain which that sends and receives nerve signalAlign Centers from the ears are also developing now so the baby reacts to loud sounds and can kick or prod in reaction. The baby will get used to familiar sounds such as the beating of your heart, familiar voices in your surroundings, other daily routine sounds and blood rushing through the umbilical cord. If you have a stethoscope at home you can check the baby’s heartbeat by yourself. The baby is busy flexing its arms and legs and you might notice the movements more clearly now. A protective layer called myelin begins to form around the nerves which will continue for a year after the birth. If you are having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed by this time and found in place.

16 Weeks - Playing Catch up!

Here we are at 16 weeks. Starting to get out there.

14 weeks...Here we come!

This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon . His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells.

Craving of the Day.....

JUICY CITRUS!!

Suki finds herself very comfortable trotting around the forests and hills at my parents' place.

Hello Second Trimester!

We are now 13 weeks pregnant!

The baby has grown to about 3 inches long.
Bone is beginning to replace cartilage and the ribs are appearing.
The nose and chin are well defined.
Movements can be measured.
The baby will begin to learn to suck its thumb.
The baby can open and close its mouth.
The external genitalia are well defined making it is possible to determine the baby's gender.

The baby is now producing insulin the hormone that controls their blood glucose.

Unique fingerprints are already in place. Muscles lengthen and become organized.

The first three months were period of rapid development, next three months will be period of rapid growth. Babies quadruple weight during the 4th month.

Today's Craving...

Orange Crush with Pellet Ice....in preferably a styrofoam cup with a fat straw. Now as a disclaimer, because I have a craving it doesn't mean I'm actually eating or drinking these items - it probably means I'm craving them because I'm NOT eating or drinking them. Who craves a carrot if they just ate one - right, Betsy M? :) hehe

My Mom is Comparing Me to Butter?

So when the ultrasound technician said the baby weighs 2 oz with a big optimistic smile, I just grinned and nodded like I knew how much that weighed...LOL. So knowing me I had to Google it - "2 oz equals" - and the result that came up - A 1/2 stick of butter! Now I can wrap my mind around the weight of a 1/2 stick of butter! :) Just thought I'd share!
